In excess of 60 members gathered at Puttenham Golf Club, all dressed in dinner suits and black tie, for the 15th Annual Gentleman's Dinner on the evening of Friday 7th October.
Members Ian Bowell and Terry Bridgman (pictured below) had spent many painstaking hours over the weeks prior to the event organising and co-ordinating the proceedings with the catering team and office. A huge thank you goes out to all who was involved in putting together what proved to be a fantastic evening of excellent food, great wine, friendly banter and fabulous entertainment.
The guest after dinner speaker was Ken Schofield CBE who was the was the Executive Director of the European Tour from 1975 to 2004. During his tenure the Tour grew from just 17 events to 45, expanding into new countries and creating the European Challenge Tour and the European Seniors Tour. Mr. Schofield had just returned from the Ryder Cup in Hazeltine and during his speech he gave some superb insights into Ryder Cups both past and present before entering into a Q&A session to conclude the evening.
I would recommend to any male member new or old who have never attended a Gentleman's Dinner to certainly put it on your list of things to experience at Puttenham Golf Club and mark the date in your 2017 club diary when they become available at the end of the year.
