Course Closed Until Further Notice (updated 24 March at 08:56)

Following on from 2016 when for the first time in the club's history the Captains of the Men's, Ladies and Junior sections drove in together, 2017 had a fourth participant as the new Captain for the Village Club also joined in the ceremony

The first to drive in was the new Ladies Captain, Steffi Symes, who arrived in an Aston Martin for
the event and was accompanied onto the first tee by members of Ladies Committee.

She then downed the tradition alcoholic shot in one before striking her ceremonial tee shot long and straight down the middle.

Next to take up the challenge was the Junior Captain, Ollie Dyason who struck a fine drive just off the fairway a few yards short of the 1st green.

Simon Brundan, the new Village Club Captain was up next to take on the challenge and he also made good contact with his tee shot, before finally the Men's Captain, Nick Arney took to the first tee.

Some would say the best tee shot was left till last as Nick creamed his drive straight and true over the tree onto the fairway just a few yards short of the green. He was delighted!

The ceremony was preceded by the usual sale of drive in pegs, whereby the members could place these anywhere on the first hole to guess where the drives would finish.

Each winner won a bottle of champagne and the winners were:

Men's Captain Drive – Crispin Bradley

Ladies Captain Drive – Olivia Reardon

Junior Captain Drive – Ron McGill

Village Club Captain Drive – Ian King

The Prize giving for the morning Pot Pourri Competition also took place in the clubhouse after the drive in and the spoils went to the team of Alan Marshall, Judy Smith, Simon Brundan and Doug Fleming who won with a score of 122 points.

We wish a very successful year to all of our new captains.
