Golfmark is a prestigious measure of how individual clubs are successful in looking after new and current members. Puttenham orginally achieved the award in December 2013. However no club is allowed to rest on its laurels and all Golfmark clubs are reassessed every three years to ensure that their high standards are being maintained.
For our 2016 reassessment the GolfMark Award criteria had recently been updated and enhanced, including an increased focus on improving the business practices and development.
Despite the increase in the scope of the Golfmark Awards requirements, Puttenham Golf Club was once again able to demonstrate our high standards in the four key essential areas and achieve the continuation of our Golfmark status.
The four key areas of assessment were:
- Management & Sustainability
- Recruitment & Retention of Members
- Coaching & Competitions
- Safeguarding Children
Puttenham has worked hard to earn our Golfmark status and Head Professional, Dean Lintott, adds to the work done in the Club by coaching in various local schools to introduce the game to children. Many of those school children have moved on through a scholarship program into junior membership and coaching sessions held on the practice ground.
With the support of the England Golf “Get into Golf” initiative we also provide adult coaching courses for beginners or players who have drifted away from the game for what ever reason but who want to return. If you know of anyone who would wish to take part in a coaching programme please contact PGA Professional Dean Lintott on 01483 810277 for dates of proposed classes.
As with all Clubs Puttenham needs a steady flow of new members to maintain its vitality and if you have a friend or relative, or know of someone who is interested in playing or beginning to play, please introduce them to what we believe is one of the best clubs in the area.
Golfmark is very much a quality mark, and Puttenham is rightly proud to have had its work acknowledged once again through achieving this award.
