Puttenham is one of the oldest Golf Clubs in Surrey, originally formed in 1894 by a group of Army Officers, Charterhouse School Masters and local businessmen. The course measures 6,220 yards with a par of 71 from the white tees and 5,784 yards with a par of 70 from the yellow tees. The course is a mixture of heath and woodland, the tree-lined fairways provide a particularly splendid backcloth of colour for the attractive sections of heather and many types of wild flowers. The course, with its predominantly sandy soil, is usually dry underfoot and drains quickly in the wettest of weather for excellent playing conditions all year round.
Puttenham has always been known as a very friendly club and after completing a major extension and refurbishment program in 2001, it can now boast a wonderfully welcoming Main Lounge, Spikes Bar and Dining Room to be enjoyed by Members and Visitors alike.
Our Caterers have a well-deserved reputation for delicious home-made food, prepared on a daily basis and the Dining Room can comfortably cater for eighty people. Puttenham welcomes Golf Societies and visitors, and offers a good variety of packages to suit most requirements.
Recent additions to the Course include a new Driving Range and Putting Green next to the first tee, perfect for warming up before your round.
The Course is set in the southern slopes of the Hog's Back in West Surrey, about ten minutes from the centre of Guildford and within easy driving distance of London, Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
"Steeped in tradition and royal history, the beautiful course, which nestles in the shadow of the Hog's Back and dates to 1894 has a majesty all of its own.
Immaculate in its presentation, so imaginative in design, the 6,220-yard challenge first created over the Heath all those years ago forms a woodland wonderland."
